Héron is the creative project of Henri Kinkead, a guy from Quebec who has been passionate about folk music since his childhood. Between singing Neil Young covers in the living room with his dad and performing his first shows with his twin brother, Henri quickly took to songwriting and playing guitar. He reveals himself solo with Héron, after performing extensively across Quebec with his band Kinkead, or as an accompanist with various artists (Simon Kearney, Marco Ema, Jérôme 50). For Héron, inspiration comes from Quebec’s musical heritage in all its forms. Folk songs, indie rock, and traditional repertoire all influence Henri Kinkead’s compositions. This rich sonic palette is complemented by intimate and poetic lyrics deeply rooted in the landscapes of Quebec, from the coasts of Gaspésie to Parc Lafontaine.
